Bühl – The Gateway to Black Forest National Park

The town of Bühl is located around 10 kilometers southwest of Baden-Baden, between the Rhine and the Black Forest. Those who live, work, or just take some time off here enjoy a landscape that is unique in its beauty and diversity. The community and its nine districts extend from the Rhine valley across the foothills, all the way to the region's low mountain range and the Black Forest at an elevation of over 1,000 meters above sea level.

While Bühl's mild climate also provides ideal conditions for the Affental variety of wine grapes to flourish, the town became known for the plums it has been exporting all over the world since 1840. In combination with the region's culinary delights, local specialties and international cuisine have led some to call Bühl the "gastronomic Mecca" of Baden.

Meanwhile, the town's cultural activities are deeply rooted in its traditions. Every year on the second weekend of September, the Bühler Zwetschgenfest never fails to deliver a colorful entertainment program that culminates in a traditional parade. Those who visit the Heimatmuseum are also sure to come away with vivid images of Bühl's history. The community features many smaller town festivals, the Burgfest, and the Bluegrass Festival, as well as a broad range other of cultural events – including theatre productions and musicals at the Neuer Markt community center. And of course, Bühl's very own parade of fools takes over during carnival.

As the gateway to Black Forest National Park, Bühl offers no shortage of opportunities for the kind of recreation you won't soon forget. Go for a swim at the Schwarzwaldbad or one of the area's numerous lakes; take the whole family out for a ride on Bühl's extensive network of bike trails, or brave a more challenging path on your mountainbike; and in the wintertime, strap on your snowshoes or hit the slopes for downhill or cross-country skiing amidst snow-covered lifts.

These days, Bühl is also known as a place where businesses succeed. The community is home to both the people who live and work here and to the companies that have settled in Bühl and continue to enjoy the advantages it provides. Like the rich variety of its outdoor landscape, Bühl is enhanced by the diversity of these businesses, which range from small and midsize operations to global players – including Bosch, LuK, and UHU. Optimal transport connections via roads, rails, waterways, and the nearby Baden Airpark are just a few of the benefits that make the community an ideal location for business.
