What personal data we collect when you visit our Website

Why we process your IP address 

Your IP address is temporarily stored on our system in order to enable our website to be delivered to your computer. For this purpose your IP address has to be stored for the duration of the session. The data is stored in log files in order to ensure the functionality of the website. In addition, we use the data to help us optimise the website and ensure the security of our IT systems. These purposes also constitute our legitimate interest in processing your data pursuant to Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR. We do not analyse your data for marketing purposes in this context.

How long we store your IP address

Your data is erased as soon as it is no longer needed for the purpose for which it was collected. Where data is collected to enable us to deliver the website, this happens when your session ends. Data stored in log files is erased after a maximum of seven days.

(2) In addition to the data referred to above, cookies are placed on your computer when you use our website. Cookies are small text files that are stored on your hard disk in association with the browser you are using and through which specific information flows to the party that places the cookie (in this case, us). (4) When using Google Analytics, our website uses the extension “_anonymizeIp()”, which ensures that IP addresses are processed in truncated form only and prevents them from being traced to a specific user. (5) We use Google Analytics to analyse and regularly improve the use of our website. We use the statistics to improve our services and to make them more attractive to you as the user. 1. Use of social media plug-ins

(1) We currently use the following social media plug-ins: Facebook, Xing. We use the “two-click” method. This means that when you visit our website, no personal data is transferred to the providers of the plug-ins to begin with. You can identify the provider of the plug-in by the marking on the box above the first letter of its name or the logo. We give you the option of communicating directly with the provider of the plug-in via the button. The plug-in provider will only be informed that you have accessed that particular page of our website if you click the highlighted field, thereby activating it. In addition, the data referred to in clause 3 of this policy is transferred. In the case of Facebook and Xing, the IP address is anonymised immediately after it is collected, according to the providers in Germany. Therefore, if you activate the plug-in, personal data is transferred from you to the plug-in provider concerned and stored there (by American providers in the USA). Since the plug-in provider mainly collects data via cookies, we recommend that you delete all cookies before clicking on the grayed-out box using your browser’s security settings.

(2) We have no influence on the data collected and on data processing processes, nor are we aware of exactly how much data is collected, the purposes for which it is processed or how long it is stored. We also have no information on the erasure of the data collected by the plug-in provider.

(3) The plug-in provider stores the data collected about you as user profiles and uses it for the purposes of advertising, market research and/or for customising its website based on user preferences. This is done mainly in order to enable it to display targeted advertising (including for users who are not logged in) and to inform other users of the social network about your activities on our website. You have a right to object to the formation of these user profiles. You can exercise this right by contacting the plug-in provider concerned. (1) We use Google Maps on this website. This allows us to display interactive maps directly on our website and gives you convenient access to the map features.

In addition, the data referred to in clause 3 of this policy is transferred. This is done regardless of whether Google provides a user account via which you are logged in or no user account exists.
