Do you want to start vocational training in Karlsruhe TechnologyRegion and are wondering how to find a training placement? This section briefly summarizes the process after the search for a training placement as an example. 

Training placements in the cooperative training system are 

• advertised directly by the companies.
• Applicants have to apply to the company as they would for a normal job. 
• Training courses generally start in August and September. 
• After finding a training placement, the trainee and the company conclude and sign a training contract. 

For some professions in the healthcare sector (geriatric nurses, nurses) and preschool teachers, vocational training is organized centrally via a special school. These schools teach basic classes and more in-depth material. They alternate with extended periods of practical work in various institutions. As the vocational training contract generally also requires that trainees graduate from vocational school, they must also have good language skills. Basic German language skills are required, but can also be improved during vocational training.

Non-EU nationals can also complete vocational training in Germany under certain circumstances. In such cases, it pays to speak to the potential vocational training company and the responsible authority in good time. The employer can also inquire to the Central Overseas and Specialist Placement Office (ZAV) whether the vocational training is possible before you apply for a visa.

Start looking for a training placement in good time! Many companies start their trainee recruitment early, so that training placements are often advertised (and filled) as early as one year before.

The Internet offers many ways to find a suitable training placement. You can either apply directly to the firms or small and medium-sized companies (SMEs) by visiting their websites. Or you can search within the large pool of advertisements of the responsible chambers in Germany.
